Sony Alpha DSLR-A100 Review

Darren wrote this at 1:09 am:

DPReview has just published their Sony Alpha DSLR-A100 Review.

This camera is the product of the Konica Minolta/Sony joint development deal last year, and the subsequent withdrawal of Konica Minolta from the camera business altogether.

The DSLR-A100 features:

  • 10 megapixel CCD
  • Konica Minolta lens mount (now called Alpha Mount)
  • in-body Anti-Shake (now called Super SteadyShot)
  • anti-dust system
  • eye start AF
  • 40 segment honeycomb pattern metering
  • 2.5″ rear LCD

The A100 gets a pretty good review, giving Sony a solid entry into the DSLR market.

We’ve also added a Sony Alpha DSLR-A100 Reviews page.

Photoshop Camera Raw 3.3 Beta

Darren wrote this at 5:32 pm:

Adobe has just released a Camera Raw 3.3 public beta, which adds support for RAW files from:

  • Canon EOS 5D and 1D Mark II N
  • Olympus E-500, SP-310, SP-350, SP-500UZ
  • Pentax *ist DL, *ist DS2
  • Sony DSC-R1

Adobe warns:

This version of Camera Raw is in a Beta stage and has not been fully tested by Adobe Systems. Please use Camera Raw 3.2 for the latest certified plug-in.

At this stage it’s probably only worth upgrading if you need support for one of the cameras listed above.

Konica-Minolta and Sony Team Up

Darren wrote this at 7:18 pm:

Konica Minolta and Sony have announced an agreement to jointly develop digital Single Lens Reflex (SLR) cameras. I can’t really tell from the press release whether they’re each developing their own line of bodies that share the Konica Minolta lens mount, or if they’re working together on a single line of DSLR body – it just says they “will begin joint development of advanced and feature-rich digital SLR cameras”.

You can read the press release at DPReview.
