Pentax has just released firmware version 1.01 for the K100D digital SLR.

Fixes and features:

  • Support for SDHC memory cards (SD cards larger than 4 GB)
  • Focal length input into the Shake Reduction menu can now be displayed accurately in Pentax Photo Browser 3

Canon has released firmware version 1.1.0 for their EOS 5D and EOS 1D Mark II N digital SLRs.

Canon EOS 5D Firmware 1.1.0

  • Enhancement of direct printing with specific printers.
  • Correction of the communication errors that occurred when shooting with EOS 5D and EOS Capture software after shooting about 138 shots.
  • Correction of the phenomenon in which the flash mode settings are changed from E-TTL to M (Manual) when EOS 5D is used in combination with Speedlite Transmitter ST-E2 and Speedlite 580EX.

Canon EOS 1D Mark II N Firmware 1.02

Updates include:

  • Fixes a file-numbering error that occurred during Bulb shooting.
  • Improves the brightness of the LCD monitor.
  • Fixes mistakes in the Russian-language MENU displays.

Canon EOS 5D Firmware 1.03

Canon has just released EOS 5D Firmware version 1.03.

Updates include:

  • Fixes the phenomenon of large image files (1.7GB) being created.
  • Improves the brightness of the LCD monitor.
  • Fixes an operational abnormality in the AEB (Auto Exposure Bracketing) shooting.
  • Fixes the mistakes in the Swedish-language MENU displays.

Olympus E-500 Firmware 1.1

Olympus has just released E-500 firmware version 1.1. To download, simply open the Olympus Master software, connect the camera via USB to the computer and log onto the internet. Choose the Update Camera function from the Online Service menu in the Olympus Master software and the update will be initiated immediately.

Improvements/updates include:

  • Button timer: As well as the current three and five seconds, photographers can now increase the time interval between when a button is pressed and when the camera reverts back to the current mode, to eight seconds. This provides for more time to make necessary adjustment in difficult situations and lets enables better customisation for personal preferences.
  • Enhanced one-touch WB functions: In addition to one-touch WB, test picture, my mode and preview – customers can now select a WB OFF mode. By choosing this function, the WB button is disabled in order to avoid any unintentional activation.
  • Security step: When erasing both RAW and JPG files of one image, a new security step has been added. The camera will display a warning message to alert users that both images will be deleted. This additional step ensures data will not be lost unintentionally.

Pentax *istDS Firmware v2.00

Pentax has just released firmware version 2.00 for their *istDS digital SLR camera.

Changes include:

  • AF mode has been added to the [Rec. Mode] in the Menu and the AF mode
  • Auto Sensitivity has been added in the sensitivity mode
  • AE-L button on M has been added in the Custom menu.
  • The effect of Digital soft filters can be selected from weak, middle or strong
  • Dutch and Swedish language modes have been added
  • The sample picture will be displayed in the LCD monitor when select picture modes
  • Menu items that are not selectable are now grayed out

Nikon D2X/D2Hs Firmware 1.01

Nikon has just released firmware version 1.01 for its D2X and D2Hs digital SLRs.

Issues addressed:

  • Autofocus performance has been increased.
  • An issue that prevented the AF-assist illuminator from firing when the Speedlights listed below were used has been corrected: SB-29S, SB-29, SB-23, SB-22S, SB-22, SB-20.
  • In images captured at a shutter speed of 1/250 s with a Speedlight SB-800, set to Distance-priority manual flash (GN), or Manual flash (M) with flash output set to full (M1/1) mounted on the camera, the top portion was often dark. This issue has been addressed. However, under the circumstances described above only, the guide number is reduced from that of full flash output level by approximately 0.6 EV.
  • (D2X) Images captured at white-balance settings of Incandescent, Direct sunlight, Cloudy, Shade, and Choose color temp. tended to have a reddish tint. This issue has been addressed.
  • Errors in Dutch menus have been corrected.

EOS 20D/20Da Firmware v2.0.3

Canon has just released version 2.0.3 for the EOS 20D firmware and the EOS 20Da firmware.

Both firmware updates contain the same two improvements:

  • Fixes a problem in color temperature information transmission that occurred when using Speedlite 430EX.
  • Improves reliability in communicaion when using CF cards.

Canon Rebel XT/350D Firmware 1.0.3

Canon has just released firmware update v1.0.3 for their EOS Digital Rebel XT/350D DSLR.

This firmware update incorporates the following improvements:

  • Fixes the phenomenon of shots being unable to be taken when using the remote controller RC-1.
  • Fixes the phenomenon wherein the camera continues to scroll through images being played back.
  • Improves reliability in communication when using some CF cards.
