The Canon EOS 5D has been designed to fill the gap between the cropped-frame ‘prosumer’ EOS 20D and the full-frame ‘pro’ EOS 1D Mk II and EOS 1Ds Mk II.
The main features of the EOS 5D include:
- full frame (35.8mm x 23.9mm) CMOS sensor
- 12.8 megapixels (maximum resolution 4368 x 2912 pixels)
- maximum frame rate 3fps
- buffer 60 frames (JPEG), 17 frames (RAW)
- 9 Autofocus zones
- spot metering (3.5%)
- ISO 100-1600, plus ISO 50 and 3200
- no built-in flash
- not fully weather-sealed like 1-series bodies
- interchangeable focusing screens
