Photo.net Learn Photography
If you want to learn more about photography, Photo.net’s Learn section is a great place to start. Or if you have a friend who wants to learn more, this is a great place to send them!
If you’re completely new to the hobby, read the Beginnners section first. It’ll give you a good background in light, lens, film, exposure and camera choices.
As your skills develop, your questions will become more specific – the Taking Pictures section has a lot of great articles on topics like portraits, gardens, architecture, ruins, underwater, studio, sports, street photography and more.
The Caring For Equipment section is probably worth a read for any photographer, especially those using cameras with detachable lenses and other accessories.
Photo.net also has discussion forums, photo reviews, interviews and lots of other ways to lose time to photography too.

Photo.net was great for a while, BUT they’ve suddenly started pushing ads. They’ve just started embedding ads in all of the forum posts. All sorts of keywords trigger a link to ad sites. It’s unnecessary and annoying. Keep looking.

Yeah, I don’t begrudge them trying to make a little money to pay for what must be massive bandwidth and storage costs, but the ads are getting a little invasive and detracting from the whole experience. Hopefully they’ll get some feedback from their users, and pull it back a bit. There must be a comfortable compromise that can bring in some income without driving the users away.
